In 2003, the Rotary Club of Wolfville had a surplus of $20,300. These funds, along with other funds accumulated from previous years, were held in trust for the 'Hand to Hand to Help' project which commenced in February 2004. 'Hand to Hand to Help' is a social assistance program in partnership with the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital Foundation, with help from the Valley Regional Hospital oncology staff, that provides financial assistance to families with a member under treatment for cancer who do not otherwise qualify for other government assistance programs. Contributions to this endowment from the Rotary Club of Wolfville include $20,000 from 2003 and $15,000 from 2002, and are being matched by the Eastern Kings Memorial Hospital Foundation. Contributions for 2004 from both sponsors are expected to be $15,000 each.
